Holiday Party 2025
We’ve grown
something real.
Since 2015, TreesLouisville has been rooting itself in the heart of this city — tree by tree, block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood. What began as a mission to restore Louisville’s urban tree cover has grown into one of the nation’s most respected environmental organizations.
We’ve planted, maintained, and distributed nearly 30,000 trees — in rain, snow, sleet, and everything in between. We’ve watered and pruned in 100-degree heat, hosted upwards of 50 tree adoptions, and partnered with over 100 organizations across the region. We’ve brought thousands of volunteers into the work and reached over 100 JCPS school campuses — putting nature in front of the next generation of Louisvillians.
And we’re thinking ahead. Our human-assisted migration program is helping Louisville’s urban forest adapt to a changing climate. Programs like Treesilience and NeighborWoods are growing the next generation of stewards.
But here’s the truth: we are outgrowing our current space. Our current home on S. Shelby Street remains our heart — and now we’re expanding. We’re purchasing and renovating 700 E. Kentucky Street — a second facility we are calling The Canopy Center — that will triple our operational capacity and serve as a dedicated workforce and community hub.
And the timing couldn’t be better. Louisville recently completed its Urban Forest Master Plan — a landmark achievement and a huge deal for our city’s trees. For the first time, Louisville has a comprehensive roadmap for growing, protecting, and equitably distributing its urban tree canopy. TreesLouisville played a central role in making that plan a reality. The Canopy Center will be our base for implementing it. This building isn’t just a facility upgrade — it’s the engine that drives the plan forward.
