Although located in an urban area, the University of Lousiville's 309-acre park-like Belknap campus has over 2,500 trees representing over 130 species, many of which are native to our bioregion. UofL researchers and students have helped catalog over 1,740 individual trees just on the core of Belknap campus that represent a total of 117 species from 54 genera.

Take a self-guided 2-mile walking tour of some of the interesting and historical trees on Belknap campus! The map can be accessed online with your smartphone, tablet or any computer, or pick up a print version during business hours at the North Information Center, 1999 S. 1st St (call 502-852-6565 for information).

Our walk will start at the Ogle Foundation Woodland Pavilion in Broad Run Park. We will walk approximately 1 mile to the chestnut grove and 1 mile back.

• Storage techniques, for indoor refrigeration or outdoor cold stratification, protection against squirrel predation on thick Tupperware, or exploiting weaknesses in hardware cloth.
• Advice for direct sowing in Fall and Spring. How to choose old specimens adapted to climactic extremes, heat domes and polar vortexes -record highs and lows.
• How to protect against deer rub and rabbit herbivory
• First year air pruned Louisville ecotype oak seedlings will be available for purchase.
